What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is a persistent inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity. It may result from impaired blood circulation, disrupted nerve signaling, hormonal changes, or other underlying factors.

High blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disorders, and prostate surgery are among the many possible causes of ED. Psychological factors such as anxiety, stress, depression, and low self-esteem may also contribute to its development.

How do MSCs work in erectile dysfunction?

Medications, hormone therapy, or medical devices may provide temporary relief but do not always address the underlying causes of erectile dysfunction — such as tissue ischemia, vascular endothelial damage, or impaired neural mechanisms.

Mesenchymal stromal cells support the restoration of erectile function through a comprehensive effect on the key physiological processes involved in erection:

  • improving blood flow to penile tissues

  • reducing chronic vascular inflammation

  • stimulating the formation of new capillaries

  • supporting neural regulation of erectile response

  • promoting overall systemic recovery in patients with underlying conditions

In many patients, improvement in erectile function may also be observed during cell therapy aimed at treating other metabolic and vascular disorders, such as type 2 diabetes.

Recommended cell types for therapy

Donor-derived mesenchymal stromal cells from the umbilical cord or placenta
These cells demonstrate high therapeutic potential, pronounced anti-inflammatory effects, and the ability to stimulate tissue regeneration and improve blood circulation. Due to their strong biological activity, they are well tolerated by the body and widely used in regenerative medicine programs.

Autologous stem cells from the patient
May be used based on medical indications, taking into account the patient’s age, overall health status, and the quality of the cellular material.

The cell type, route of administration, dosage, and treatment protocol are individually selected following a comprehensive medical evaluation.

Expected Effects

As part of comprehensive treatment, patients may experience:

✔ improvement in erectile function
✔ enhanced blood circulation in penile tissues
✔ increased physical endurance
✔ overall stabilization of health condition

Initial improvements may develop gradually over several weeks, with the full therapeutic effect emerging as regenerative processes become activated.

Patient FAQs

Does cell therapy treat erectile dysfunction?
Cell therapy is aimed at restoring the key physiological mechanisms of erection — blood circulation, vascular health, and neural regulation. It may significantly improve erectile function as part of comprehensive treatment; however, it is not an instant or universal solution for all patients.

How many procedures may be required?
The number of procedures is determined individually following medical evaluation. In many cases, a single treatment course is sufficient, while in others, repeat therapy may be recommended to reinforce the results.

Is cell therapy safe?
We recommend using only autologous stem cells or cells derived from tissues collected at the birth of a healthy child. These cell sources are considered highly effective and safe. All cell-based products undergo multi-level laboratory quality and safety control. Procedures are performed under medical supervision and based on individual clinical indications.
